Club History to date
01 Feb 2007

The club was formed in 1971 by two parents who were frustrated that there was no football in the village for their boys so two teams were formed overnight and Chinnor Boys Football Club was established.

In 1987 after sixteen years of growth there were eight league teams covering boys from nine to sixteen years of age.

At that time as a part of bringing the club image more up to date its name changed to Chinnor Youth Football Club. (This also helped to cover the fact that some of the girls of the village had joined teams at younger ages).

The club has continued to go from strength to strength attracting more boys and girls and fielding more teams each season. We now have teams at every age group from under 7 to under 16, and also at youth level at under 17 and under 18. In order to meet League rulings for playing two teams in one age group Chinnor Boys was reconstituted in 1988 but was changed to Chinnor Colts in 2001.

League rulings once again forced two major changes within the club.

Firstly the introduction of non-competitive football for the younger age groups hence our under 7 to under 10 age groups playing small sided soccer at a very high standard.

Secondly, mixed football not being allowed after under 12 meant that the club was about to lose some very talented lady footballers.

Luckily for Chinnor the girls stuck together and with some excellent support from parents Chinnor Ladies was formed in 2001.

At this present time the ladies are running three very successful sides at under 12, under 14, and under 16.

With teams representing the club in The South Bucks Mini Soccer Conference,

The South Bucks Minor League, The South Bucks Youth League and the Oxford Ladies League we are one of the largest Youth Football Clubs in Oxfordshire.

A very big milestone for the club was to apply for the FA CHARTER STANDARD AWARD, and in November 2002 the club was pleased to announce that they were successful in their application. Only a handful of clubs in Oxfordshire have been awarded the FA CHARTER STANDARD AWARD. This is something we at Chinnor Youth Football Club are very proud of.

With the safety of your children paramount, the club now has 25 FA Qualified

Coaches, Emergency First Aiders and also a registered Child Protection Officer in place.

The future is looking good for our 200 plus members.

Training and matches for our 11 a side teams takes place at Whites Field (Mill Lane), with its floodlit training area and purpose built changing rooms, and the small sided matches take place at our permanent pitches at the Playing Fields in Station Road.

The club also runs many fundraising and family social events throughout the season. The likes of Race Nights, Quiz Nights, Dances and Discos are very popular, but our main Fundraiser being our well established 6 a side tournament in May which attracts some 160 teams over the weekend making it one of the biggest tournaments in Oxfordshire.

Chinnor Youth Football Club is a very busy and exciting place to be so come along and give us a try.
