Towerhill match report 4/10/08

Evening all! Thank you all for coming back to me with your TEXT messages this weekend, I really do feel that I have made a massive leap for mankind in terms of my communication skills (now that I can send group texts) but I suspect that I have also peaked in terms of my ability! The main reason for sending you this note is to circulate Jon's Match Report (see attachment) in lieu of a Parents Newsletter - I hope you and the the girls enjoy it! Hopefully you will all be able to print off a copy and the girls can then add it to their training folder. However, if you have any problems, please let me know and I will get a copy to you. I would also like to thank Richard Higgs for taking the photo which we have included in the report. Please note that we have forwarded a copy of the Match Report to the Chinnor Youth Webmaster to add it to our U10s page, so watch this space! [Dave, could you please add this to our site? Thanks!] Looking ahead, we have training as normal on Wednesday, so please remember to wrap up warmly (parents & girls!!) - as the temperature has really dropped over the last few days. Also, just a quick reminder: please can you ensure that you arrive a few minutes BEFORE training starts (by 5.55 pm at the very latest) so that the girls are ready to start training at 6.00 pm promptly. Thanks for all your help with pre & post match set up on Saturday. You will be pleased to know that Mark Scarborough has done a fantastic job of providing a schematic of how to put the goal posts up - which I will make available when we have home matches (so we really don't have any excuse now!). Finally, looking ahead to the weekend, we are still hoping to play Towerhill in a re-match (away). However, this is now dependent on whether or not they will be playing Carterton on the smae day. The Towerhill Manager has agreed to let us know by (or on) Wednesday and I will finalise arrangements with you all as soon as possible after that. At the moment, we are 3 players down on Saturday (leaving 9 in the squad) but this will still be plenty to give the girls more invaluable match experience. I may not make it to training on Wedesday as I will be travelling back from Brampton (and therefore will be at the mercy of the A1!) but I am on the end of the email or phone if you want to chat anything through at any other time. Kind Regards Jo

Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
